Won by Magic; or, Nick Carter’s Mysterious Earis a pulp detective adventure featuring the famous fictional detective Nick Carter.
The story begins when Carter receives a mysterious telegram that sends him from a steamship to India and onward toward Nepal to investigate the disappearance of a young man. Accompanied by the boy’s father, Jefferson Arnold, Carter follows clues involving a suspicious associate named William Pike and encounters guides and local characters who may know more about the case. As the investigation unfolds amid exotic settings and rumors of mysticism, Carter must determine whether the strange events are truly supernatural or the work of clever criminals using deception to conceal their scheme.
